Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, passing rivers, terraced fields, and charming rural villages. From Nayapul, the trek officially starts along a gentle trail following the Modi Khola, offering the first glimpses of Nepal’s countryside life. As you walk through small settlements and farmland, you’ll cross suspension bridges and enjoy views of lush green hills. The trail gradually ascends through Birethanti before continuing towards Tikhedhunga, where the sound of the river and surrounding forest create a peaceful atmosphere. Upon arrival, settle into your teahouse, enjoy a warm meal, and rest for the night, preparing for the exciting climb to Ghorepani the next day.

After breakfast, the trek begins with a challenging yet rewarding ascent as you cross the Bhurungdi Khola and start climbing the famous stone steps toward Ulleri. This section tests your stamina but offers constant encouragement through beautiful mountain scenery and traditional Magar villages. As the trail rises, the landscape changes into dense rhododendron and oak forests, especially vibrant during spring. The path gradually eases as you approach Ghorepani, a lively mountain village perched on a ridge. Upon arrival, enjoy cool mountain air, cozy teahouses, and early mountain views, then rest well in preparation for the sunrise hike to Poon Hill the next morning.

The day begins early with a pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill, where a spectacular sunrise unfolds over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, painting the peaks in golden hues. After soaking in the panoramic views, you return to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing the trek through dense rhododendron forests. The trail gently undulates along forested ridges, offering occasional mountain glimpses and a peaceful walking experience. As you approach Tadapani, the surroundings open to fresh mountain air and stunning Himalayan scenery. Upon arrival, relax at your teahouse and enjoy a well-earned rest after one of the most memorable days of the trek.

The trail offers occasional views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre as you make your way toward the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk. Stone-paved paths lead you through terraced fields and traditional houses, giving a close look at local mountain life. Upon arrival in Ghandruk, explore the village, visit the local museum, or simply relax while enjoying panoramic mountain views. Overnight at a teahouse, surrounded by culture, comfort, and Himalayan charm.

After breakfast, the trek descends from Ghandruk through terraced fields, forests, and small villages, offering final views of the Annapurna range and a last taste of mountain life. The trail leads down to Nayapul, where the trekking journey comes to an end. From here, you drive back to Pokhara, enjoying scenic countryside views along the way. Upon arrival in Pokhara, relax by the lakeside or celebrate the completion of your trek with well-earned rest and memories of the Himalayas.
