Description

Leaving Namche, the trail contours along a high ridge above the Dudh Koshi, with sweeping views of Ama Dablam, Everest, and Lhotse accompanying you the entire way. The path descends to Phunki Tenga, where you cross the river before a steep climb through rhododendron forest to Tengboche (3,860 m).

Here sits the famous Tengboche Monastery — the most revered in the Khumbu — perched dramatically on the ridge with Ama Dablam rising behind it. Time your arrival to witness evening prayers before continuing a short distance further to Deboche, your overnight stop for the night.

Description

Leaving Deboche, the trail descends briefly through forest to Pangboche — home to the oldest monastery in the Khumbu — before climbing through increasingly open alpine terrain toward the upper Imja Khola valley. Vegetation thins, the landscape grows stark and dramatic, and the scale of the Himalaya begins to reveal itself in full.

Dingboche (4,410 m) sits in a wide, open valley with direct, unobstructed views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. Cold, clear, and extraordinary — a fitting introduction to the high alpine world you're now entering.

Dingboche (Acclamatization Day)

Description

A second acclimatisation day — this time at 4410m. Our guide leads a hike to the ridge above Dingboche toward Nagarjun Hill (approx 5100m), where Makalu, Cho Oyu, Baruntse, and the full arc of the Khumbu Himalaya stretch across the horizon. Come down slowly, eat well, hydrate. Your body is preparing for the final push. Lobuche and Gorakshep lie directly ahead.

Description

The trail north from Dingboche is one of the most emotionally powerful sections of the entire trek. Crossing the Thukla Pass ridge (4830m), you pass the memorial cairns of climbers lost on Everest — a sobering and deeply moving place. The landscape turns glacial and austere. Lobuche (4940m) is a cluster of teahouses at the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. The summit feels close now.

The base camp sits at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall — a dramatic, shifting landscape of seracs and crevasses draped in expedition flags. Return to Gorakshep for the night, with altitude and awe doing their work.
