The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal's most iconic Himalayan journeys — an 11-day route leading deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary at 4,130m, encircled by giants like Annapurna I (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli.
From Pokhara, the trail winds through subtropical forests, terraced Gurung villages, and rhododendron ridges before opening into a dramatic glacial amphitheater at base camp. Classic stops include Ghorepani, Poon Hill, Chhomrong, and Machhapuchhre Base Camp — with a natural hot spring soak at Jhinu Danda on the return.
Suitable for moderately fit trekkers, our ABC Trek package includes AC tourist bus transfers between Kathmandu and Pokhara, 2 nights hotel in Pokhara with breakfast, private trailhead transfers, an experienced English-speaking guide, all trekking permits, teahouse accommodation, and 3 meals daily on trail. Best seasons: spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November).

Depart Kathmandu early morning by AC tourist bus for the scenic 6-hour drive to Pokhara along the Prithvi Highway, tracing the Trishuli and Seti river valleys. Pokhara — Nepal's adventure capital and gateway to the Annapurna trekking region — welcomes you with lakeside charm and direct views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). Check in to your hotel, then spend the evening exploring Lakeside or dining beside Phewa Lake. Overnight at hotel (breakfast included).
After breakfast, a private vehicle transfers you from Pokhara to Nayapul — the trailhead of the Annapurna trekking route. The trail winds through terraced farmland, crosses suspension bridges over the Modi Khola river, and passes traditional hillside villages before climbing steadily to the quiet settlement of Tikhedhunga. An easy, well-paced introduction to trekking in Nepal's Annapurna region. Overnight at the teahouse.
One of the most celebrated days on the Annapurna trail. The route climbs steeply from Tikhedhunga via the famous stone staircase through Ulleri, then continues through dense rhododendron and oak forests to the ridgetop village of Ghorepani (2,860m). In spring, the rhododendrons bloom in vivid colour, making this one of the most scenic forest walks in Nepal. Ghorepani is the base for tomorrow's iconic Poon Hill sunrise — one of the most photographed viewpoints in the Himalayas. Overnight at the teahouse.
Rise before dawn for the short climb to Poon Hill (3,210m) — one of Nepal's most famous sunrise viewpoints, with sweeping panoramas of Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, and the full Annapurna range bathed in morning light. Return to Ghorepani for breakfast, then trek onward through rhododendron forests to Tadapani — a scenic ridge village with stunning views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. Overnight at teahouse.
The trail descends from Tadapani through forest and terraced farmland before climbing to Chhomrong (2,170m) — one of the largest Gurung villages on the Annapurna trail and the last major stop before the Annapurna Sanctuary. Perched on a ridge with direct views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre, Chhomrong marks the true gateway into the Sanctuary. Stock up on any last supplies before the higher sections ahead. Overnight at the teahouse.
Descend from Chhomrong via stone steps to the Modi Khola river, then climb through bamboo and rhododendron forest into the lower Annapurna Sanctuary. The trail passes through Sinuwa and Bamboo before reaching the Himalayan Hotel (2,920m) — a cluster of lodges set deep in the forest as the Sanctuary's canyon walls begin to close in. The terrain grows noticeably wilder and more remote from here. Overnight at the teahouse.
The defining day of the trek. Climb through Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m) — a glacial plateau with close-up views of the sacred Fishtail Mountain — then push on for 2 more hours to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). Set inside the Annapurna Sanctuary, this natural glacial amphitheatre is ringed by ten peaks over 7,000m: Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Gangapurna, and Machhapuchhre towering on all sides. One of the most spectacular high-altitude destinations in the Himalayas. Overnight at the teahouse.
Wake to sunrise over the Annapurna peaks before beginning the long descent from base camp — back through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, and Himalayan Hotel, all the way down to Bamboo (2,310m). A full 6–7 hours of descending, covering significant altitude as the trail re-enters the bamboo and rhododendron forest zone. A satisfying, if leg-testing, day on the trail. Overnight at the teahouse.
Descend from Bamboo through Sinuwa and Chhomrong, then drop to the Modi Khola River and follow the trail to Jhinu Danda (1,700 m). This charming riverside village is famous for its natural hot springs, just 15 minutes below the village on the riverbank and the perfect reward after days of high-altitude trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary. Spend the afternoon soaking away the miles. Overnight at the teahouse.
A short final trek from Jhinu Danda up to Kande, where a private vehicle transfers you back to Pokhara in around 1.5 hours. Check in to your hotel, then spend the evening celebrating the completion of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek — Lakeside Pokhara's restaurants, cafés, and shops are right on the doorstep. A well-earned night in the adventure capital of Nepal. Overnight at hotel (breakfast included).
After breakfast, board the AC tourist bus for the scenic 6-hour return journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu. On arrival, a private transfer drops you at your hotel. The evening is yours — explore Thamel, pick up last-minute souvenirs, or enjoy a farewell dinner. This marks the end of your 11-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek — one of Nepal's greatest Himalayan adventures.
